'No'vember Challenge

Hey Folks,

I popped this up in our online community and thought, hey this wouldn't be a bad blog, so here it is.

Just a little thought process I am currently having, because Dare I say it, Christmas is approaching and there are a million things going on in the next 8 weeks, and I am witnessing so many of us being in complete juggle mode. This also came up on my feed from a very funny person and thought this is actually a great topic.

There are end of year commitment's coming out our ears, there are lots and lots of kids activities, we are generally more social things going on, and its a lot, its a lot to organise, and its a lot to be part of, and that does not include planning your Christmas holiday's.

Look at your calendar, what can you delegate out, what can you ask for help with and what is a priority for YOU and your goal's (family goals included).

Remember that NO is a complete sentence and being a YES person will just wear you down, and let you get walked all over by families, friends and communities. One of my favourite sayings is the Navy stands for Never Again Volunteer Yourself (13 Years of career volunteering here, my Navy girls in here will laugh and understand) and thats a motto I am pretty committed to in most aspect's.

So look at your current plate/schedule/calendar, is it overfilled with activities, or committees that serve no purpose or fulfilment to you?

Is there things in it that you could essentially retire from doing? Are you doing the things that make you happy, or are you doing it for you or family because it makes life easier for them, and the stuff that they are involved in, does it make them happy, yes its great for kids to do sports, but it should be sports they enjoy, and they also do not need to do everything.

Think about how you want your next year to look, are your going to be running all over the place with kids activities, or cleaning the house constantly because of someone else's plan's, or are you going to do some stuff for yourself so you can breath.

If things like Sleeping better, or weight loss are part of your goals, then saying Yes to all (the ones you actually want to go to are fine) the piss ups and BBQ's, and shit that goes on, are not going to help, so be mindful, does this event make me uncomfortable, am I happy with that group of people, will it help me get to those goal's?

Say NO to the stuff that gives you nothing back in return, Say yes to the things that will fill your cup, whatever that maybe in whatever capacity you have right now.

Just a few thoughts on this 1st day of November.

Good luck for the next few months
